With great anticipation, I receive the proceedings of the conference Advances in Architectural Geometry 2020/21. I still clearly remember the thrilling experience of presenting my research at the 2018 edition at Gothenburg, Sweden. It was the first time that I was surrounded by the academic community in person.
However, due to the corona pandemic, this edition was hosted online. As a result, these printed proceedings became the only physical trace I have associated with this event.
On pages 54-71 is my paper “Discretised Airy stress functions and body forces” coauthored with Pim and Andrew. We propose new types of principal meshes that discretize Airy stress functions into panels with curvatures associated with body forces. In principle, this method can visualize any smooth 2D stress tensor field into a principal network. This conference paper presents the method and the theoretical discussion with only a few examples. Looks forward to applying it to more sophisticated examples.
